About Us
Crittenton Centers. A place to call home since 1892.
Originally conceived as a maternity home for unwed mothers, Crittenton Centers began serving Peoria and communities across the tri-county area in 1892. A calling, in fact, that had immediate, life-changing outcomes from our earliest days to today as a multiservice, multimillion not-for-profit (501c3) child welfare organization.
Our mission is clear. To provide the nurturing care and love that a diverse population of children, adolescents, young adults and parents need to grow and succeed as people and families. We do that in any number of group and individualized ways, first, as a place to call home. Second, as a service provider for several core Departments of the State of Illinois, including the Illinois Department of Human Services, the Illinois Department of Children & Family Services, and the Illinois State Board of Education.
